I am Mrs Rafiq, teacher of Year 1 & 2 at Fig Tree Primary.
Qualifications and Experience
I hold a bachelor’s degree in Youth Studies alongside a PGCE in Primary Education, and I bring passionate teaching experience to our classroom.
Favourite Subject and Why
My absolute favourite subject to teach is Phonics. I love it because Phonics serves as the magical key to unlocking a child’s independence. There is nothing quite like watching the spark in a child’s eyes when letters suddenly transform into meaningful words and seeing their confidence soar as they begin to read on their own.
Why I Chose to Work in Education
I chose a career in teaching because I am deeply passionate about making a positive difference in young lives. Every child deserves an encouraging champion in their corner. I wanted to be that person who inspires a lifelong love for learning, curiosity, and self-belief right from their very first steps in school.
Hobbies or an Interesting Fact
When I am not in the classroom, I love relaxing and recharging by going shopping and watching movies. Most of all, I enjoy creating wonderful memories while spending quality time with my beloved family and friends.
Favourite Children’s Book
My favourite children’s book to read is The Snail and the Whale, which is always a joy to share with young readers.
What I’m Looking Forward to This Year
This year, I am incredibly excited about watching each child grow, discover new talents, and blossom both academically and socially. It is going to be a wonderful journey of discovery for our Year 1 and 2 learners.
