Mrs Hussain
Mrs Hussain - Headteacher
My name is Mrs Hussain, and I am the Headteacher of Fig Tree Primary.
I have worked at Fig Tree for 17 years and have had the privilege of being Headteacher for the past eight years.
Qualifications and experience
I have a BA (Hons) degree in Sociology and Politics. I gained Qualified Teacher Status while working at Fig Tree and completed my National Professional Qualification for Headship in 2022.
Favourite subject
My favourite subject is English because I love reading! Some of my happiest memories from primary school are of listening to my teacher read stories to the class. Words are powerful, and learning to use them well helps us express ourselves and shape our futures.
Why I chose education
Ever since I was a child, I dreamed of becoming a teacher and having my own classroom. Today, I feel incredibly honoured to lead a whole school and help provide a safe, caring place where every child can learn and flourish.
Favourite children’s books
As a child, I loved The Twits, Calamity with the Fiend and The Borrowers. A particular favourite was Mrs Wobble the Waitress by Allan Ahlberg.
Hobbies and interesting facts
I have a six-year-old British Shorthair cat called Millie. I have also climbed Mount Snowdon and swum with a dolphin!
What I’m looking forward to this year
I am looking forward to developing our English curriculum, helping every pupil make excellent progress in writing and nurturing a love of reading. I also hope to help our children progress in Qur’an reading and make our outdoor spaces even more enjoyable.
A message for our families
I am excited to continue working closely with our families to raise standards across the school. Fig Tree is about more than academic success: it is a caring community where we nurture the next generation of British Muslims, guided by the Qur’an and Sunnah.
