I am Mr Hussain – Assistant Headteacher, Designated Safeguarding Lead and Year 6 Teacher.

Qualifications and experience

I hold a BA degree in Youth and Community Work, along with a PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status in Primary Education, specialising in PE. I have also recently completed the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH). I have worked in education for over 10 years, with experience in classroom teaching, PE leadership and senior leadership. Last year, I had the privilege of serving as Acting Headteacher at Fig Tree Primary.

Favourite subject and why

My favourite subject is PE because it brings out teamwork, resilience and confidence. I love seeing children discover new talents and succeed in ways they may not have expected.

Why I chose to work in education

I chose education because I wanted to make a positive difference in children’s lives and help them grow academically, personally and spiritually. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a child develop in confidence and achieve something they once found difficult.

Favourite children’s book

The Harry Potter series is what really sparked my love of reading. I was such a big fan that I once waited outside Waterstones for the midnight release of the next book!

Hobbies and interesting facts

I love travelling. I enjoy trying new food, learning about different cultures and experiencing how people live around the world.

I also enjoy playing football and padel, and I am a passionate Liverpool FC supporter! I have cycled from one coast of the UK to the other to raise money for charity and have climbed the three highest peaks in the UK.

What I’m looking forward to this year

I am looking forward to helping our pupils achieve their very best, supporting our staff and continuing to make Fig Tree a school where every child can thrive. I am also excited about planning some fantastic experiences for Year 6, including memorable trips and, hopefully, another overnight stay at school or perhaps even somewhere further afield!

A message for our families

It is a privilege to teach and support your children. A strong partnership between school and home makes a real difference, so please continue to work closely with us. Together, in sha Allah, we can help every child become a confident learner, a kind individual and a wonderful Ambassador of Islam.
